The New Zealand Timber Museum is proud to house one of the most significant archives of forestry history in the country. With a collection that includes the original 123-year-old lease agreement between local iwi and a pioneer sawmilling company, the archives offer a unique window into Aotearoa’s past.
Visitors and researchers can explore a growing collection of:
• Historic maps and mill records
• Photographs, blueprints, and journals
• Industry publications and company histories
• Personal memorabilia and oral histories
These archives support educational programmes, heritage research, and exhibit development. They are a testament to the vision and effort of generations who helped shape New Zealand’s timber sector.
